In my spare time, I made laser turret I could control via potentiometers to hit photoresistors as targets. Whenever the laser contacted the resistor, it turned the laser off, made the LED on the target flash, and vibrated the box with a small video game controller vibrator. I programmed two modes: manual mode where I had a time limit to hit a target and automatic mode where I moved the laser to the targets to save their locations and then let the laser go to each target and "destroy" it. The lcd screen displayed the mode and the action I was doing and the 7 segment display showed the score and the timer. This was my first automation project I started from scratch and, admittedly, the wire management got quite out of hand pretty quickly.
